Camelia Chandelier Party
This was the very first time I ever attempted to make a floral chandelier installation. I was using Camellia’s, which are these beautiful pink flowers that bloom in the spring time in the garden of my family’s home in West Vancouver. I was making this floral installation for our family’s Easter dinner party. You can see in the photos that initially I constructed this tube out of chicken wire which I suspended to a lighting fixture using fishing line. Then putting the flowers into the chandelier was simply weaving the stems into the mesh tube. The lesson that I learned making this chandelier was that the tube did not need to be nearly as large as I originally intended. I also learned that longer stems are a lot easier to work with rather than shorter stems for these types of chandeliers. But it was love at first sight with the way that the chandeliers appear on camera and how much more dynamic they make the space look. Since then, I’ve done seven or eight floral chandeliers. The signature cocktail underneath will be a cherry blossom rosé cocktail, which I am mixed up. I remember experimenting using sour cherry blasters infused in a particular type of vodka because I wanted to try to capture that really tart cherry flavour. In my recollection, it was not especially effective so I would not recommend. Can’t bat 1000 every time. I would, however, absolutely recommend the chandeliers.
