Chinese New Year Dinner Party
My family gets together every Sunday for family dinner at my parents home in West Vancouver. At the time I was working for the Diageo global luxury team as the global e-commerce account manager for the Diageo rare and exceptional websites, and we were in the thick of lunar new year product launches out in Singapore. This was the first year that I was really working on the Asian market product launches and the first time I’ve ever had so much of my life consumed by lunar new year, so it felt only appropriate that I celebrate in my own way here in North America. I love any opportunity to hang something from the ceiling so I got these paper lanterns and switched over my Philips hue lighting to the festive colour scheme. It was an opportunity for Mom to wear the jacket that my dad had gotten her as a souvenir during the Beijing Olympics back when he was working on the Olympic account and it was an opportunity for us to do one of our favourite activities - Ordering a feast of Chinese food from Vancouver’s incredible barbeque duck houses.
