Red Berry Christmas Dinner 2025
This was the annual Christmas Day dinner party That my family throws for our extended relatives at my parents home in West Vancouver. Every year, my mom and I try to outdo our decorations from the prior year which this year we thought was gonna be very difficult after last year’s spectacular green and white crystal chandelier masterpiece. We were going for a dark red colour scheme. For several years now, my mom and I have tried to only use materials which we can naturally find growing around the property as opposed to buying any single used decorations or buying florals. Finding dark red in December in Vancouver was less challenging than you would think because we realize that there was tons of these red berries that were growing all over from the cotton Easter plant. The beauty of living in a temperate rainforest means that this year volume of plants that grows is enormous, so I was able to go to plants around our property and cut down all of these berries and literally not make a single dent in the tree, just due to how much of the berries they were. I was on cocktail duty and I did a champagne and cranberry cocktail using the beautiful Red Veuve cliquot bottles which oh so nicely match the colour scheme. Dinner was classic turkey, mashed potatoes, greens gravy, and all of the goodness.
